How to set up the Morning Mail module

Open Guestapp > Morning Mail in the backend.

Before creating your first Morning Mail, you should first define the basic settings and create at least one category.

Define the settings

Open “Settings” in the top-right corner.

Here you can define the colors that will later be available when designing your Morning Mail.

Enter the desired colors using the corresponding HEX code and save your settings.

The saved colors will then be available when designing your Morning Mail.

Create categories

Next to the settings, you will find the “Categories” section.

At least one category must be created in order to use the Morning Mail.

Click “New category”.

Category name

First, enter a name for the category.

The category defines various basic settings for all Morning Mail editions to which this category is later assigned.

This means that as soon as you assign a particular category to a Morning Mail, the settings defined for this category are automatically applied.

Category settings

For each category, you can define the following basic settings:

  • Format

  • Paper format

  • Header

  • Footer

  • Folding lines between columns

  • Display time for the following day

These settings are automatically applied when you select the corresponding category while creating a Morning Mail.

Define text styles

Within the category, you can also define in advance how the different types of text should be displayed.

These include, for example:

  • H1

  • H2

  • H3

  • H4

  • H5

  • H6

  • Body text

  • Additional information

For each text style, you can define settings such as color, font and font size.

These settings are then automatically applied to the corresponding texts in the Morning Mail.

If necessary, you can still adjust the design of individual content elements directly within the respective Morning Mail at any time.

Create a new Morning Mail

Once you have created at least one category, you can create a new entry.

Click “+ New entry”. You can then choose how you would like to create your Morning Mail.

New Morning Mail

With this option, you start with a blank page without an existing layout or content and can build the Morning Mail completely from scratch.

Morning Mail from template

Alternatively, you can use a Morning Mail that has already been saved as a favorite as a template.

Select the desired template and then adapt it for the new day.

Select the date

Next, specify the date for which the Morning Mail should be created.

The selected date also forms the basis for dynamic content.

For example, if you create a Morning Mail for September 15, automatically inserted information such as the weather will refer to September 15.

Select a category

Next, assign one of the previously created categories to the Morning Mail.

The category settings, such as format, header, footer and text styles, are applied to the Morning Mail.

Internal note

You can also optionally add an internal note.

This is only displayed in the Morning Mail overview and is intended for internal organization. It is not visible to guests.

Then click “Save”.

You can now start designing your Morning Mail.

Configure the header

The header is located at the top of your Morning Mail.

Click the gear icon in the header to open its settings.

Here you can customize the header.

Among other things, you can:

  • Upload a logo

  • Define the logo alignment

  • Enter a headline

  • Add a subheading

  • Define the header height

  • Select a background color

  • Upload a background or header image

This allows you to adapt the header to your preferred design.

Configure the footer

The footer can also be customized.

Click the gear icon in the footer.

Depending on your preferred setup, you can add elements such as:

  • Logo

  • Title

  • Subtitle

  • QR code

  • Link to Guestnet

  • Link description

  • Copyright text

You can also define the layout and alignment of the footer as well as its colors and background.

A custom background image can also be added.

Design the content of the Morning Mail

The main content of the Morning Mail is built using layouts and modules.

The design process works via drag and drop.

Select a layout

First, select the desired page structure under “Layouts”.

Available options include, for example:

  • One column

  • Two columns

  • Three columns

  • Different combinations of columns with varying widths

Simply drag the desired layout into the empty area of the Morning Mail using drag and drop.

You can then place your content within this layout.

Add modules

Once you have added a layout, you can also drag the desired modules into the corresponding areas using drag and drop.

Different types of content are available.

Content from Guestnet

You can use existing content from various Guestnet modules.

These include, for example:

  • Events

  • Products

  • Weekly program

  • Treatments

  • Activities

  • POIs

  • Opening hours

  • Hotel information

  • Team

  • Daily menu

  • Weather

  • Date

When you drag one of these modules into the Morning Mail, you can then select which content and information should be displayed.

The required information is retrieved directly from Guestnet.

Custom content

Under “Custom content”, you can use content that you have previously saved within the Morning Mail under “Custom content”.

This makes it easy to reuse frequently needed or recurring content.

Free content

With “Free content”, you can create completely individual content that has not previously been stored in Guestnet.

After adding the module, you can, among other things:

  • Upload an image

  • Enter a title

  • Write a description

  • Apply basic text formatting

The content can be edited and customized again at any time.

Style modules

Once a module has been added, you can customize its appearance using the “Styling” section.

Background and border

For a module, you can, for example:

  • Select a background color

  • Add a border

  • Define on which sides of the module the border should be displayed

Style the text

Various design options are available for text:

  • Font

  • Font size

  • Font color

  • Text alignment

  • Bold

  • Italic

  • Underline

  • Additional formatting options

Apply formatting to all

If, for example, you have adjusted the design of a title, you can use “Apply to all” to apply the same formatting to all corresponding titles within the Morning Mail.

This means you do not need to format each title individually.

Reset the design

Use “Reset” to remove your individual changes and return to the originally defined settings.

Edit, copy or delete modules

Content that has already been added can be modified at any time.

Depending on the module, different icons are available directly on the corresponding box:

  • Gear icon: Edit content or settings

  • Copy icon: Duplicate the box

  • Trash icon: Delete the box

Individual modules can also be rearranged within the Morning Mail using drag and drop.

Add another page

If a page is completely filled or you would like to divide the Morning Mail across several pages, click “Add page” at the bottom.

You can then add layouts and modules to the new page using drag and drop.

Undo changes

Use “Undo” to reverse previously made changes.

You can find this function at the top of the editor.

Publish the Morning Mail

Use the “Published” toggle to define whether the Morning Mail should be published on Guestnet.

The Morning Mail will not become visible immediately, but only on the selected date and at the time defined in the corresponding category.

This allows you to prepare the Morning Mail in advance.

If you make changes after the Morning Mail has already been published, you can publish it again using “Republish”. This updates the already published version with your latest changes.

Export the Morning Mail

Use “Export” to export the Morning Mail as a PDF.

This allows you, for example, to print it and also use it as a printed version within the hotel.

Save the Morning Mail as a favorite

Use the star icon to mark a Morning Mail as a favorite.

Morning Mail editions marked as favorites are displayed in the “Favorites” section of the overview.

They can then be reused when creating a new entry via “Morning Mail from template”.

Favorites are particularly useful for recurring layouts that only need to be adapted for the respective day.
