Introduction – What does the Guest Card do for you?
With the feratel integration, Guestnet reads your guests' guest cards straight from feratel and shows them in the app. Your guests find their personal card right where they already are, no paper card, no reception visit just to pick one up.
Guestnet only reads the card, feratel remains the system of record. No cards are issued, cancelled or blocked here, that still happens at feratel.
Requirements
Before the Guest Card shows up in the app, two things need to happen outside Guestnet:
feratel activates your property as a partner. This runs directly between the property and feratel, Guestnet is not involved.
The municipality or the responsible registration authority enters a mapping code for the property. This also happens outside Guestnet.
Only once both steps are done can you connect feratel under Settings > Marketplace > Guest Cards and enter the mapping code. Without a mapping code, Guestnet never queries feratel for cards, so there are no unnecessary requests and no error messages for your guests.
Feature overview – what the guest sees in the app
Once a logged-in guest has a card, the Guest Card can show up in two places:
Quick action on the home screen, alongside the other quick actions
Entry in My Stay
Both open the card detail screen. There, guests see:
Card provider branding (name block and colour bar)
QR code to scan
Card number
Validity from and to
Disclaimer text from feratel
"Add to Wallet" button
If children are on the reservation, the Cards in this reservation section appears below the guest's own card. There, the guest can switch between their own card and the cards of any children on the reservation, each shown with name, age and card number. A note explains that children don't have their own login, which is why their card appears in every adult's app on the reservation.
If a guest has no card, the tile and quick action are simply hidden, there's no empty or broken screen.
Setting up the Guest Card
Clarify the partner activation with feratel for your property, if this hasn't happened yet.
Ask the municipality or the responsible registration authority for the mapping code for your property.
In the backend, open Settings > Marketplace > Guest Cards. Select "Feratel Guestcard" and enter the mapping code and the municipality number.
Check that every reservation in the PMS has an email address on file, and that it's the same one used on feratel's registration form. Without this match, Guestnet won't find the card.
Test the display with an ongoing reservation that already has a card produced in feratel.
The card itself isn't stored at Guestnet, it's fetched live from feratel on every call. Once a property is set up, it needs no further upkeep, unless the mapping code changes.
Good to know: the email decides the match
feratel only answers a card request if a registration ID, a registration number or an email address is sent along. Of these three, Guestnet only has the email address from the PMS.
In practice, this means: if the email address in the PMS doesn't match the one recorded on the feratel registration form, Guestnet won't find a card, even if one exists. Guestnet automatically tries the addresses of every fellow traveller as well as the booker's, if none of them matches, the card stays invisible for that guest.
Worth passing on to your guests if an expected card doesn't show up: simply check whether the same email address was given at check-in as at the time of booking.
FAQ
Do children get their own Guest Card in Guestnet?
Do children get their own Guest Card in Guestnet?
Yes. Children don't have their own login, but their card appears for every adult on the reservation, in the Cards in this reservation section.
Can a guest see another adult's card?
Can a guest see another adult's card?
No. Every logged-in guest sees only their own card and the cards of any children travelling with them, never another adult's card, not even a spouse's.
Why doesn't a guest see a card even though the property is connected?
Why doesn't a guest see a card even though the property is connected?
Usually it comes down to the email address, see the section above. It's also possible the card hasn't been produced in feratel yet, or that the guest doesn't have a registration form yet. Before that registration, feratel never returns a card.
How often is the card refreshed?
How often is the card refreshed?
Guestnet fetches the card live from feratel on every call, nothing is cached. If a card changes at feratel, for example after being reissued following a loss, that's visible in the app immediately.
What happens if feratel is temporarily unavailable?
What happens if feratel is temporarily unavailable?
The guest sees a message that the service is currently unavailable. This is deliberately different from the message that no card exists, so nobody assumes they simply have no card.
Can Guestnet issue, change or block cards?
Can Guestnet issue, change or block cards?
No. Guestnet only reads, any changes to a card still go through feratel directly.
Does the card stay visible after checkout?
Does the card stay visible after checkout?
No. No card data is stored at Guestnet, so after checkout there's nothing left to display.
